What once was an underwater volcano today makes the 19 spectacular dive sites that one can dive in the Soufriere Scotts Head Marine Reserve. The pinnacles, chasms and deep walls that make up this most popular region in diving are home to many rare creatures of the underwater world. Here are some of the favorite sites.
Soldierfish Cave

This is typical of the dive site around this area, lots of dramatic swim-throughs full of fish that part like a curtain in front of you, then close behind you ready for the next diver!
Scotts Head Pinnacles
Scotts Head Pinnacles at the southern edge drops steeply into the
crater's center and features a well-encrusted arch and schools of
larger fish. At a depth of only 35 feet, a picturesque swim-through,
frequented with blackbar solderfish and grunts, bisects the pinnacle.
On the other side, a steep wall inside the crater falls off to more
than 120 feet.
This is the reason that Dominica rates so highly in the dive magazines.
Our reefs are healthy, thriving and exploding with vibrant colors.
After everyone's first dive here they cannot stop talking about the
colorful sponges and healthy coral.
Suburbs
Divers from around the globe are realizing that diving in Dominica is
an extraordinary experience - where every plunge is living proof of the
majesty of the underwater world. It's little wonder why experts rate
Dominica exceptional for being one of the most unusual and popular dive
destinations anywhere. Dramatic walls descend to depths of 1000 feet.
Our underwater topography amazes all divers, walls over 1500 ft deep, pinnacles soaring up from the depths and cloaked in schools of fish and gently sloping reefs that are suitable for all levels of divers.
Soufriere Pinnacles
Dominica's sheer reefs are draped with lush curtains of gorgonians.
Huge stands of sponges are home to golden crinoids with feathery,
radiating arms. Then there's first run "creature features," Sea horses,
frogfish, batfish, flying gurnards, electric rays, Caribbean reef
squid, sea snakes and sea urchins lead the list of rare creatures that
call Dominica waters home.
Many dives are spent searching for Dominica's common but well hidden creatures, like seahorses, frogfish, scorpion fish and many other amazing creatures. Many of our divers arrive here saying that they have never seen a seahorse; few will leave and still be able to say this!
