8 Reasons Why We Love Dominica

There’s nothing more rewarding than watching our guests fall madly in love with Dominica. Overflowing with natural wonders, awe-inspiring adventure and vibrant culture, the Nature Island offers countless reasons to develop a deep, personal connection to the land. And in a recent video from Matador Network, you can certainly see why we’re all so infatuated. Get a peek inside the short film here and check out the 8 reasons why we love the island below.

1. Canyoning

Canyoning is a term that is used often in Dominica. Inside of the lush green forests, you will find endless canyons that open up into stunning pools. Climbing, jumping, swimming, diving—the possibilities are endless when canyoning through Dominica.

2. Local Bush Rum

There’s nothing better (or stronger) than the local rum. At every bar you visit on the island, you are sure to see local Bush Rum as the house spirit. Take a swig and taste the essence of Dominica’s beautiful culture.

3. Hiking to the Boiling Lake

Boiling Lake is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. The massive volcanic lake is filled with a bubbling grey-ish blue water that is completely enveloped in a cloud of vapour. Hike around it or be adventurous and take a dip inside the chilly waters. This is a bucket list item for many Dominican travelers.

4. The Lush Natural Geography

When you’re done with diving in the crystal clear waters, take a look at the expansive, lush greenery that takes over the entire island. The rich landscape is filled with life that you simply won’t see anywhere else.

5. The Waterfalls

Waterfalls are everywhere in Dominica. When you’re exploring the landscape, you might just come across a stunning waterfall. Ranging from 20 to 200 feet tall, the waterfalls in Dominica are a sight to see. Plus, they make for a great spot to cool off from the humid climate.

6. The People & Culture

Arguably one of the best parts of Dominica is its people. The island locals are friendly, welcoming and full of life. They appreciate their land as if it is a member of their family, and they want you to feel the same. No matter where you travel to in Dominica, you will always be greeted with a smile.

7. The Hot Springs

Hot springs are natural jacuzzis and, typically, they’re hard to come by. But not in Dominica. Because of the large volcanic presence in Dominica, there are endless springs to dip and relax in.

8. Whale Watching

The waters surrounding Dominica are home to exotic marine life. Just a few minutes away from the coast, you’re able to see whales bobbing above and below the surface of the crystal clear waters. This is something that you can’t see anywhere. But, in Dominica, whales are almost as common as the Bush Rum.
