Shore Dive

The Shore Diving project in front of the hotel was created to protect and grow coral, creating a more interesting shore dive environment for our divers and guests. Guests can learn how these underwater structures such as canon and an oil-drained engine enhance marine life.

Sea Turtle Watching

If you arrive at Fort Young Hotel between May and October, three of seven globally endangered sea turtle species can be seen swimming and nesting along Dominica’s shoreline. We will be happy to arrange one of the most magical sea turtle watching experiences imaginable, whether the creatures are nesting amongst the beaches, laying their eggs or emerging from their shells and delving into the water.

Bird Watching

Accompany the island’s leading birders and ornithologists for an insider’s look at Dominica’s vibrant avian paradise. A guided nature hike will take you deep into the rainforest to observe and learn about the beautiful and seldom-seen birds which call the nature island home. Dominica is home to more than 170 species of birds including Blue-headed Hummingbirds, Ruddy Quail-doves, Caribbean Elanias, Blue-headed Euphonia, Lesser Antillean Flycatchers, Pearly-eyed Thrashers and two Amazonian parrots which are endemic to the island: the Sisserou Parrot and the Jaco Parrot.

Fishing

Just 15 minutes from Fort Young Hotel’s shoreline is the most premiere deep sea fishing that Dominica has to offer. Island Hopping

Once you’ve arrived on the Nature Island, it’s likely you will not want to leave. Dominica offers ceaseless experiences and memories to be made; however, if you wish to island hop, Fort Young Hotel is a mere one minute walk from the ferry terminal. Here, you can board a 300-seat catamaran and travel between the islands of Guadeloupe, St. Lucia and Martinique. Canyoning

Canyoning, otherwise known as canyoneering or waterfall rappelling, is one of the most fulfilling and exhilarating ways to explore the magical depths of Dominica. Whale & Dolphin Watching

Waterfalls

The small island of Dominica is comprised of a remarkable 365 rivers, featuring 12 waterfalls throughout its lush rainforest. Dip in a hot spring at Trafalgar’s twin drops or clamber across rocks through the rainforest on a 45-minute hike to the dramatic Middleham Falls, which drops 200-feet from the looming cliffs above. Old Oven Art Gallery

The resort’s new Old Oven Art Gallery will feature a rotating display of local artists, along with curated art exhibitions, intimate events and private functions. Not only that, all artwork will be available for sale. The gallery is home to the resort’s original brick oven and chimney, both being showcased for the first time ever, and is crowned by a 172-square foot skylight that looks up through a rooftop wellness garden above.

Work & Play Hub

A central part of the resort, the Work & Play hub comprises four different areas designed as multipurpose rooms. These spaces offer state-of-the-art executive and board meeting rooms, game rooms for both card games and video gaming as well as printing and connectivity facilities. Cleverly concealed floor-to-ceiling blinds, as well integrated audio-visual equipment, allow for work and play, day and night.
