Dominica’s Favorite Tourist Sites Reopen

We are ecstatic to relay that several of Dominica’s most sought-after natural sites have reopened to the public. Once again, visitors are able to discover the abundance of hidden treasures that lie within its lush landscape; and, at Fort Young Hotel, our guests have a front-row seat to it all. In fact, recent hotel guest and New York Times Travel writer Matt Gross visited Dominica just 5.5 months after Hurricane Maria, leaving with a life-changing account of all that the Nature Island has to offer. Below, find the list of locales you can now explore for the transformative Caribbean getaway that Matt Gross so lyrically put into words:

• Indian River
• Cana Heritage Park (Capuchin)
• Cabrits National Park
• Syndicate Nature Trail
• Purple Turtle Beach
• Emerald Pool
• Trafalgar Falls
• Freshwater Lake
• Titou Gorge
• Middleham Falls
• Old Market/Museum
• Morne Bruce
• Botanic Gardens
• Mero Beach
• Toucarie Beach
• Batibou Beach
• Wotten Waven Sulphur Springs
• Jacko Falls
• Spanny Falls

First, choose the adventure you wish to embark upon: hiking, diving, canyoning, bird watching, whale watching and more. Second, choose from any of the above sites to fulfill your wanderlust. If you want to wander by foot, consider strolling around Roseau’s Victorian buildings and craft market, exploring the nearby Botanical Gardens, or trekking the Waitukubuli Trail—the Caribbean’s longest hiking trail with 14 sections that cover 115 miles of untrammeled rainforest.

Or, if you’d like to delve into the depths of the rainforest, head to Titou Gorge on an eye-opening canyoning excursion. For a soothing dip, relax in the hot spring at Trafalgar’s twin drops or clamber across rocks through the rainforest on a 45-minute hike to the dramatic Middleham Falls, which drops 200-feet from the looming cliffs above.

No matter the escapade, we’re here to facilitate your most memorable experiences amongst the Nature Island. Stop by Fort Young Hotel’s friendly Activities Desk or inquire before arrival to book the excursion of a lifetime.
