Canyoning

One Exhilarating Day Canyoning Dominica’s Titou Gorge

Dominica’s rich, unspoiled landscape offers a natural playground of unending wonders to explore—and equally exhilarating ways to journey to them. Canyoning, also known as canyoneering or waterfall rappelling, will take you on a fulfilling adventure that rewards every challenge with unimaginable views of the changing terrain. Take the path less traveled and descend striking rock structures to enter a magical, and seemingly entirely new, world within the Nature Island.

What To Expect

This epic excursion will call for swimwear, a towel and closed footwear of your own, and your guides will take care of the rest. After getting decked out in the proper gear, including a wetsuit, helmet and harness, you will learn how to rappel on a 10-foot training wall and receive a briefing before you hit the trail where the real adventure begins. During a rappel, expect to learn how to control your own speed while a canyoning leader supports you from both the top and bottom of your rappel line. All are welcome, pro or novice, as no prior training or rappel experience is required.

The Terrain

Titou Gorge’s terrain varies greatly throughout, and your two hours of travel will be full of thrilling opportunities to rappel waterfalls, jump in hidden pools beneath the rainforest and descend into deep gorges in rock—carved from thousands of years of rainfall. Whether hiking through lush jungle on foot or rappelling halfway down a rock to drop in the water below, your day is sure to be filled with the sound of cheers for every natural obstacle tackled. A breathtaking view unveiled with every step taken, you will discover new treasures to admire as the surrounding scenery changes throughout your adventure and offers an array of native plants and wildlife to learn about.
