While female and juvenile sperm whales can be sighted throughout the year, the best time to watch for these majestic ocean giants is between November and March—when the male sperm whales migrate.

These majestic mammals, with the largest brain in the animal kingdom, have prominent foreheads that make them easy to differentiate from other sea creatures. When breaching, sperm whales jump high out of the water before diving as deep as 3,280 feet back down into the ocean depths in search for food.
