Fort Young Hotel Featured in BBC & Caribbean Journal for Redefining All-Inclusive Travel

We’re thrilled to share that Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort has recently been featured in two major publications, BBC Travel and Caribbean Journal, highlighting our innovative “island-inclusive” concept that’s transforming the all-inclusive experience. Read on to discover how we’re leading the charge in creating authentic Caribbean experiences that combine covetable accommodations with immersive island adventures.

The Evolution of All-Inclusive

The post-pandemic travel landscape has shifted dramatically, with today’s guests craving meaningful connections to their destinations alongside traditional resort comforts. As BBC notes in their article, “Beyond the buffet: Why all-inclusive resorts are sending guests off site,” approximately 50% of all-inclusive travelers now seek experiences beyond resort boundaries.

“This is a blind spot for many resorts, because for a long time, getting guests offsite hasn’t been their focus.”BBC Travel

Dominica’s Island-Inclusive Innovation

When international travel resumed after COVID-19 restrictions eased in 2022, our owner Gregor Nassief recognized that Dominica’s natural splendor demanded a new approach to all-inclusive hospitality. Our “island-inclusive” package was born, offering not just accommodations and meals, but daily guided excursions to Dominica’s natural wonders like Trafalgar Falls and Roseau Market.

“What Fort Young is doing is reinventing the way the Caribbean tells its own story. It’s about showing travelers the luxury of authenticity, the excitement of the real island.”Caribbean Journal

Fort Young Hotel: Where History Meets Adventure

Built on the site of a 300-year-old former British fort, Fort Young Hotel blends historical charm with modern amenities. Our recent transformation added 60 new rooms, ranging from mountain-view accommodations in the historical section to oceanfront suites with private balconies overlooking Roseau.

Our on-site dive shop makes exploring Dominica’s underwater world effortless, while our new Shore Diving project features artificial reefs just off the jetty where guests can easily access a developing marine ecosystem.

“It’s quietly become one of the most interesting stays on an island filled with cool boutique properties, with a palpable energy and a focus on delivering an authentic, truly Dominican experience.”Caribbean Journal

The Appeal of Hassle-Free Adventure

Despite requiring a five-night minimum and commanding a premium ($456 per person per night versus $302 for room-only), our island-inclusive package now accounts for 30% of our all-inclusive leisure bookings — clear evidence that travelers value both authentic experiences and convenience.

“Travellers who come here don’t want to do the fly-and-flop, where you sit at the beach and do nothing else. People come here to explore Dominica.” — Gregor Nassief to BBC Travel

Planning Your Own Island-Inclusive Experience

With direct flights available from Miami on American Airlines and Newark on United Airlines, experiencing Dominica’s natural wonders has never been more accessible. Room rates start from approximately $302 per night, with the full island-inclusive experience beginning at $456 per person per night based on double occupancy.

The Future of Caribbean Luxury

As Caribbean Journal aptly puts it, at Fort Young Hotel “you get the whole island with your stay.” We’re proud to be at the forefront of this movement, offering travelers not just a place to stay, but a genuine connection to Dominica’s natural beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality.
