Which Fort Young Hotel Adventure Are You?

Dominica is known as “The Nature Island,” but it might as well also be known as “The Adventure Island.” Awaiting you during your stay are plenty of adrenaline-boosting, once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Below, find out which one you should be sure to add to your vacation bucket list.

1. Do you consider yourself a risk taker?

A. It’s my middle name
B. I don’t mind leaving things to chance
C. Maybe a calculated risk
D. I’m all for playing it safe

2. When I’m on vacation, I like to…

A. Do as much as possible—I’ll sleep when I get home
B. Carve out a little time for rest/relaxation
C. Forgo the alarm clock but really make the most of my days
D. Take things slow and easy

3. The [native-to-Dominica] animal I relate to most is…

A. Fisherman Bat – I’m right at home in the dark, in a cave, in a small space
B. Sea Turtle – My stamina is high; I don’t tire easily
C. Jaco Parrot – I like to see things from multiple perspectives
D. Dominica Boa Constrictor – I’m a big fan of taking naps

4. Choose a color:

A. Red
B. Yellow
C. Green
D. Purple

5. My relationship to water is…

A. In it, around it, looking at it—I’m for it all
B. I’m basically a fish
C. I don’t mind getting a little wet
D. I prefer to stay above the surface

If you answered mostly A’s…Strap in; you’re going canyoning.

Truly the most epic adventure you can embark upon during your stay at Fort Young Hotel, canyoning is not for the risk-averse or faint of heart. For this adventure, we’ll provide the transportation, gear, and a tour guide to help you navigate the diverse terrain. You’ll rappel down steep walls into deep canyons, explore the depths of wondrous caves, and be able to look up and gaze upon the lush rainforest floor.

If you answered mostly B’s…Get your wetsuit on; you’re going diving.

On a diving excursion, you’ll discover that the coral reef and ocean life are equal parts magnificent and mysterious. Suit up in your scuba gear and explore what’s thriving below the surface, guided by the experts at Dive Dominica. Swim with sea turtles, giant barracudas, and stingrays. For an extra dose of adventure, sign up for a night dive and see what comes alive after dark.

If you answered mostly C’s…Lace up your hiking boots; you’re setting out on a hike.

So much is waiting for you in the rainforest: rare species of birds (like the native Jaco Parrot), wondrous waterfalls, sprawling miles of green trees and so many new sights, sounds, and smells to envelop all your senses. Hiking can be what you make of it: set out on a casual stroll at your own pace or book a guided walk to the dramatic, 200-feet-high Middleham Falls.

If you answered mostly D’s…Sit down and get your camera out; you’re going whale watching.

Maybe you’d rather observe the wilderness than be a part of the adventure. All the wonder—none of the risk. Dominica is home to or a stopping point for nearly two-thirds of all known whale species in the world. We recommend booking a whale watching tour with Dive Dominica for a chance to see the rare sperm whale migration or other beautiful species up close and personal (from the comfort of a boat, of course).

In real life, you can be whoever you want to be, and the same applies to silly quiz results, so don’t let this deter you from trying anything and everything during your stay! Whether your blood is pumping or you’re sitting still, the island has so much wonder to be explored. For more information on the types of adventures waiting for you in Dominica, visit this page.
